Abstract

In this study, lead-free, low temperature process (400°C firing) Bi4Ti3O12(BiT)/TiO2+Sr sol-gel composite ultrasonic transducer was fabricated. Samples were made by automated sol-gel spray technology. A 50 µm film was made on a titanium substrate with a thickness of 3 mm. After the sample was manufactured, it was poled at room temperature. After polarization, the upper electrode was manufactured with silver paste. A maximum temperature test was performed to confirm the temperature range. As a result, it was confirmed that it has high temperature durability up to 685°C. Next, in order to confirm the operational stability, we conducted a thermal cycle test from room temperature to 475°C (furnace temperature 600°C). Throughout the thermal cycling test, it showed a stable ultrasonic response at every cycle and high sensitivity. Therefore, the BiT/TiO2+Sr sol-gel composite ultrasonic transducer showed high temperature stability up to 475°C.
