Abstract

The storage of highly-charged ions in storage rings and ion traps and the development of new techniques has made possible high-accuracy experiments by X-ray spectroscopy, laser spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. The principle of ion storage and recent experiments with bare or hydrogen-like ions are discussed.
