Abstract

Developing efficient and stable bifunctional electrocatalysts is highly desirable for boosting the energy efficiency of water splitting. Herein, we propose an effective ruthenium nanoparticle anchoring approach to reconstruct NiFe LDH including the customized morphology and configuration of active species. The synthesized NiFe LDH-Ru shows an excellent HER and OER performance with low overpotentials of 52 and 217 mV at 10 mA cm−2, respectively, which exceeds most of the existing HER and OER catalysts. Moreover, the NiFe LDH-Ru catalyst also presents excellent long-term stability. This work provides a new approach for exploring efficient electrocatalysts for clean and renewable energy applications.
