Abstract

A temperature sensor based on a high-birefringence (PANDA) fiber loop mirror is demonstrated. The experimental result shows an exactly linear temperature response with a high sensitivity of ~884 pm/°C over a measurement range from 28°C to 60°C by using a short section of PANDA fiber (~5 cm) as the sensing probe. The compact sensor is working on reflection and capable of remote temperature monitoring, makes it a good candidate for various in-field sensing applications.
