Abstract

We have studied the phase change of magnetization dynamics in Bi-doped yttrium iron garnet (YIG) single-crystal thin films for a possible application of magnetic sensing. By introducing the dual-mixer time-difference method and the appropriate design of waveguide, the obtained maximum phase change was 50°/Oe. This would be acceptable for the resolution for a small magnetic field detection, such as magnetocardiogram signals. Thus, this technique using YIG is a promise candidate for the highly sensitive magnetic field sensing.
