Abstract

A new class of dendritic amphiphiles with multi-hydrophilic head groups has been synthesized and characterized. The results from their surface pressure vs. area isotherms and hysteresis curves indicate that they form highly compressible and stable monolayers at the air-water interface. The topology of dendritic monolayer and Langmuir-Blodgett films was investigated by atomic force microscopy, which showed a highly ordered aggregation.
