Abstract

Semiconducting ZnS nanoparticles were obtained using banana peel waste extract. The precursor was consisting of zinc chloride and thiourea with extract of banana peels. The structural, optical and morphological characterizations were carried out on the as grown samples. Absorption in UV region at 292nm shows strong blue shift. The band gap of the sample was calculated to 4.26eV using Tauc relation. Both sphalerite and zinc blend structure is observed in X-ray diffractograms. Samples exhibits strong luminescence behavior in visible region that makes them suitable for various optoelectronics applications.
