Abstract

Integration of hydrogen generation with organic pollutants removal under the irradiation of visible light is a promising conception in solar energy conversion and environmental protection. However, diverse reaction pathway prohibits the synchronous application of hydrogen evolution and pollutants removal. Herein, we construct a unique reaction system and achieve the simultaneous hydrogen production and organic pollutants removal by adding sacrificial reagents. Addition of sacrificial reagents acts crucial role in improving the separation efficiency of carriers to promote the electrons transfer. Meanwhile, introduction of sacrificial reagents could generate reactive oxygen species to facilitate the degradation of pollutants. This report offers a new enlightenment into realizing sustainable energy production coupled with organic pollutants removal.
