Abstract

The highly accurate series solution of the Schr\odinger equation for a hydrogen atom in a uniform magnetic field is used in the calculation of the first-order relativistic correction. For weak magnetic field the results are completed by second- and third-order corrections. The accuracy of the total energy for the ground state of the hydrogen atom matches or exceeds in some cases that of previous fully relativistic calculations.
