Abstract
A dual-polarization higher order mode substrate integrated cavity (SIC) antenna array operating in Ka band is proposed. Cross-shaped radiating slots are employed to achieve the dual polarization performance. An 8×8-elements array is designed by using three layers of double-side printed circuit broads (PCBs), which is composed of two layers feeding networks and one layer radiating elements. For better expansibility and higher efficiency, full corporate substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) feeding networks are specially designed and a 2×2-slot antenna subarray excited by higher order mode SIC is presented. Simulated results show that this 8×8 slot array achieves a maximum gain of 24.4 dBi and an impedance matching bandwidth of 34.75–35.75 GHz. High isolation above 50 dB is realized between the two input ports and cross polarization is under 𢀒30 dB. In addition, the aperture efficiency is 65%.
