Abstract
Requests for care for “video game addiction” are growing rapidly. They represent 15 percent of patients in the CSAPA (Addiction Care, Support, and Prevention Center) Emergence Tolbiac 75013. While the addicting or at least pathogenic cormorbid nature of video games is clearly still subject to debate, video game use can make it possible to diagnose other better-established pathologies. In this article, we present the case of a teenager referred by his parents, who were worried about his video game consumption. The follow-up led us to diagnose, besides excessive video game use, high-functioning autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This clinical case invites us to reflect on this possible comorbidity and on how to understand and even manage ASD and problematic video game use.
