Abstract

It is shown that the ferroelectric phase transitions in the mixture compounds PbZr1−xTixO3 (PZT), Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)1−xTixO3 (PMN-PT), and Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)1−xTixO3 (PZN-PT) are described by a twelfth-order expansion of the Landau potential in terms of the phenomenological order parameter. Classical Poincaré transformation is used in constructing the appropriate Landau potential. Our consideration requires two more basic monomials, a 10th-order invariant and a 12th-order one, to be present than the previous model. A phase diagram is calculated in phenomenological parameter space. T-x phase diagrams for the PZT and PZN-PT are estimated. The PbTiO3-concentration dependence of physical properties is calculated in the vicinity of the morphotropic phase boundary.
