Abstract
In modern society, the number of projects increases because of the rapid development of economy, science, culture, and education as well as the fierce competition on the market. Two great projects, i.e. '211 project' and '985 project', have been set up in higher education of China. Higher education projects are then given more attention and have become a new issue of great concern. The definition, category, item, feature and characteristics of higher education projects are discussed in this paper within the framework of the theory of modern project management. The paper aims at the introduction of theory and methodology concerning the management of projects of higher education in China.
