Abstract

This study assesses Belgians' predispositions toward high-definition television (HDTV) and profiles potential adopters of this technology according to mass media use and demographics. A telephone survey was conducted with 311 Brussels respondents during summer 1988. The results indicated that respondents exhibited little awareness of HDTV and expressed a limited interest in HDTV. The potential adopter of HDTV is likely to be an educated, young, male homeowner with a large household and high income. He is also more inclined to own home entertainment products, listen to radio, and attend movies.
