Abstract

Metal vapor was employed to prepare solvated metal atom solutions, and these solutions were used to prepare mono- and bimetallic Re and Pt metal catalysts on different metal oxide (MO) supports such as Al 2O 3, Z13X zeolite and MgO. Compared with conventionally prepared Pt/Al 2O 3 and monometallic SMAD Re- and Pt/MO systems, the bimetallic SMAD Re—Pt/ MO systems showed much greater activities for C—C bond cleavage at relatively low temperatures. All hydrocarbons were affected similarly, including n-hexane, n-heptane, cyclopentane, methylcyclopentane, cyclohexane and toluene.
