Abstract

To attain high-value utilization of coal gasification fine slag (CGFS), a mechanical-chemical activation treatment for CGFS was presented in this study. Heavy calcium carbonate (CC) was employed as an equivalent filler. The findings demonstrate that the maximum tensile strength and maximum flexural strength of the Poly(vinyl chloride) PVC/MCS (modified CGFS) composite materials reach 47.74 MPa and 28.8 MPa, which are 12.3% and 55.2% higher than that of PVC, and 14.6% and 13.4% higher than that of PVC/CC with the same amount of CC, respectively. Thermal properties reveal that the PVC/MCS composites have high-temperature thermal stability, and the final residual mass reaches 29.16%, which is 37.9% higher than that of PVC/CC. Therefore, MCS exhibits the potential to serve as a substitute for CC in the PVC market.
