Abstract

Relations between Algeria and Morocco have been deteriorating since 2020, raising concerns that a direct conflict may occur. The dispute revolves around historical grievances, differing state visions and the status of Western Sahara, and any conflict would have significant repercussions for stability in North Africa and pose challenges for Western countries in navigating their relationships with both countries.
