Abstract

Preparation methods have been established for certified and pure refractory neutron flux detectors. The classical powder mixing, pressing, sintering, and mechanical finishing operations have been refined for Al 2O 3 containing 1% CoO and MgO containing 1% CoO. The compatibility at high temperature (above 1000 °C) of these detectors with cladding materials such as graphite, Al 2O 3, and molybdenum has been evaluated.
