Abstract
The thermal variation of reciprocal susceptibility of (Gd x Y 1− x )Fe 2 compounds obeys a Néel type variation. Both the effective and saturation iron moments decrease with the increase of yttrium content. A correlation between the exchange fields acting on iron magnetization and the Fe ordered moment is evidenced. Finally, the magnetic behaviour of iron atoms in these compounds is discussed.
