Abstract

Multipunch one- and two-stage apparatus with single piston press drive are considered. The apparatus are used for growing diamond monocrystals at pressures up to 60 kbar and temperatures up to 1800 °C. One-stage apparatus with six and eight punches and with a reaction chamber of cubic and octahedral form are shown. Design of two-stage apparatus with fourteen and twenty six punches of the second stage is described. The mentioned one-stage apparatus is used as a drive for the punches of the second stage. Investigations have shown that the accapted forms of bearing surfaces of punches and their relative position in the apparatus under consideration provide synchronous motion and steady position of all of the punches. Data are given on contact pressure between container plastic material and punches measured by depth of extrusion of plastic material into calibrated holes in the punches.
