Abstract
Fouling of surfaces exposed to a flowing gas stream, occurs due to both physical and chemical processes. The main fouling mechanisms are particulate, corrosion and chemical reaction fouling. Particulate fouling is a physical process, involving both mass and heat transfer to the surface. It also depends on the physical properties of gas, its velocity and the particle size distribution.
