Abstract

The paper deals with damage evolution near cyclically loaded edges of stamping or cutting tools. A specific cyclic edge-loading test procedure has been developed for characterising the behaviour of edges that are subjected to cyclic loading under high compressive mean stress. With this procedure, the local deformation behaviour and the damage evolution can be analysed after different load cycles. A cold work tool steel grade K340 Isodur produced by electroslag remelting technology was investigated.
