Abstract
The 48Ca(α,nγ)51Ti and 48Ca(α,2nγ)50Ti reactions studied at 14 MeV incident energy have been used to excite high spin states in 51Ti and 50Ti. By use of yield functions and γγ-coincidence measurements three new high spin states at 2 344, 2 754 and 3 644 keV have been identified in 51Ti. Angular distribution and polarisation measurements make the spin values 11/2-, 15/2 and 13/2 or 17/2 probable for the 2 344, 2 754 and 3 644 keV levels respectively. Two of the new high spin states are discussed as core excited states.
