Abstract

In this paper, we propose to design two IDC (Internet Data Center) - related OFS (Optical Flow Switch) applications based on SDN (Software Defined Networking) technologies. With the significant increase in broadband new services on the Internet, we make use of SDN technologies to implement a central controller of OFS and based on SOA (Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers) technology to deploy OFSs as the future applications of IDC. The proposed OFS using SOA technologies without optical buffers can quickly transfer big data to the output ports. OFS based on SDN technology implements a simple priority queuing and scheduling algorithm. OFS can be allocated to each server's virtual optical path and the actual optical path. OFS method can also be used in the future IDC application, providing a faster, more energy efficient and more reliable solution.
