Abstract
Vibrationally excited FO radicals generated by the reaction F + O3 → FO* + O2 have been observed in emission for levels up to v′ = 9 in the ground electronic state. An infrared spectrum for Δv = 1 quantum transitions has been recorded at a nominal resolution of 0.008 cm−1 (125-cm path difference) using a high-resolution Fourier transform spectrometer. Transitions for Δv = 2 and 3 up to 9-6 were also observed at lower resolution but were not used in the analysis. An analysis of the X2Π1/2 and X2Π3/2Δv = 1 transitions up to v′ = 8 has yielded new information about the vibrational state dependencies of the molecular parameters. Transition intensities and instrumental lineshapes have also been investigated.
