Abstract

In this paper, a high resolution parallax barrier 3D display based on a sub-display-panel with transparent slits (SDPTS) is proposed. The proposed 3D display consists of a main display panel, a backlight, a SDPTS and a parallax barrier. The SDPTS, which is located between the main display panel and the parallax barrier, forms transparent slits and modulates synthetic images on the main display panel. The additional pixels, which are provided by the SDPTS, are modulated by the parallax barrier located in front of the SDPTS. A prototype of the proposed 3D display is developed. The experiment result shows that the proposed 3D display has higher resolution than the conventional one.
