Abstract

The problem of estimating the directions of arrival for manoeuvring fixed arrays in a single snapshot case is considered. An improved algorithm is presented which extends the physical aperture of manoeuvring arrays to a larger synthetic aperture and accumulates an effective number of snapshots coherently, and obtains equivalent outputs of uniform linear arrays from outputs of arbitrary geometry manoeuvring arrays. Computer simulations illustrate the improved performance achieved by the proposed algorithm relative to that obtained with existing algorithms.
