Abstract

There are two most serious problems in the imaging mode of forward-looking SAR (F-SAR). The first one is that the gradient of the Doppler frequency is very small and it is very difficult to achieve high azimuth resolution. The second one is that the terrain targets situated symmetrically about the flight/moving path have the same Doppler history, which causes serious azimuth ambiguity. This paper will adopt an imaging configuration of F-SAR with multiple receiving antennas. The azimuth resolution and ambiguity problem is discussed for this kind of F-SAR. The contribution of multiple receiving antennas to the azimuth unambiguity and high resolution imaging result is analyzed.
