Abstract

Infrared Fourier transform absorption measurements at 0.004 cm −1 unapodized resolution have been made for the 10 00-00 00, 01 10-00 00, and 00 01-00 00 fundamental bands of the unstable HNC molecule. Transitions up to J = 26 have been observed and analyzed yielding precise molecular constants for the 01 10 and 00 01 states and improved constants for the 10 00 and 00 00 states. The band origins are ν 1 = 3652.65952(8), ν 2 = 464.23966(7), and ν 3 = 2023.85932(8), where the values in parentheses are one standard deviation. The rms standard deviation of the fits was 0.00030 cm −1.
