Abstract
The mission of the Academic Pediatric Association (APA) is to advance child health through leadership in education, research, patient care, and advocacy. Guided by core values including collaboration, inclusion, respect, health equity and partnerships with children, families, and communities, our vision is “to ensure optimal health and well-being of all children, particularly the most vulnerable.”1 Aligning with these values, the recent National Academies’ report, Implementing High-Quality Primary Care: Rebuilding the Foundation of Health Care, underscores the importance of implementing high-quality primary care (HQPC) that is “comprehensive person-centered, and relationship-based.”2 This report prioritizes the needs and preferences of individuals and communities and emphasizes that HQPC requires societal and political support, and calls for leadership, accountability, and a national implementation plan.
