Abstract

Adenomyosis and endometriosis are conditions defined by growth of endometrial glands in the myometrium and in extra uterine tissue respectively. Both diseases cause dysmenorrhea and pelvic pain. Previous studies suggest a significant association between adenomyosis and peritoneal and deep infiltrating endometriosis in infertile women.1 2However, the prevalence of a dual diagnosis is difficult to determine secondary to the difficulty in establishing a diagnosis of adenomyosis and in differentiating between the two diseases clinically.
