Abstract
To the Editor: In the article “High prevalence of amblyopia risk factors in preverbal children with nasolacrimal duct obstruction (NLDO),” Matta and colleagues1 report that among the children with NLDO and amblyopia risk factors, 63% (44/70) were found to actually develop amblyopia. In our view, it is statistically inappropriate to compare this percentage to the incidence of amblyopia (1.6%-3.6%) in the general population, and it is erroneous to describe the latter as “a cohort of normal children” as the authors do in the abstract conclusions.
