Abstract

Equation for the state surface for solids in terms of the specific internal energy, entropy and specific volume has been discussed in detail starting from the Gruneisen assumption. It has been revealed that the Gruneisen assumption leads us to the specific heat at constant volume to be the function of entropy only. Riemann integral written in the generalized form independent of the assumption on the Gruneisen γ has been obtained, and the strategy to reach the solution of the Riemann problem has been shown.
