Abstract

Some fundamentals concerning the high-pressure technique in organic chemistry and recent progress in high-pressure synthesis of cryptands and related compounds are described. A brief discussion is given of several examples illustrating various approaches to high-pressure syntheses of simple and chiral cryptands. Emphasis is placed on double-quaternization reactions carried out under high pressure.
