Abstract

Recent progress of terahertz (THz) technology opens new applications of security inspection and biomedical developments. In some applications, the power of the THz radiation is crucial for the realization of the technology in the field. We have developed a laboratory-size high power free electron laser (FEL) and its application to THz imaging, spectroscopy, and material study. We found that a table-top FEL having more than 1-W power could be a source of a real-time imaging system for the security inspection. This paper introduces the design review of the table-top high-power THz FEL and its application potential to security inspection based on our KAERI THz FEL activities.
