Abstract
This chapter discusses the high power sub millimeter wave radiation sources of gyrotron FU series. Gyrotron FU series in the Research Center for Development of Far Infrared Region at Fukui University (FIR FU) achieved highest frequency of gyrotrons, frequency tunability, high stabilization of frequency and amplitude, and modulation of frequency (FM) and amplitude (AM). The development of gyrotrons is being advanced in two ways: the development of high power, millimeter wave gyrotrons, and a gyrotron with a diamond window that achieved 2 MW output power at 170 GHz in a pulse. Gyrotrons developed in FIR FU belongs to the second type. This chapter develops high frequency gyrotrons for their application to many new technologies in far-infrared region. Gyrotron FU Series, which consists of 9 gyrotrons is developed.
