Abstract

This paper deals with a single-stage power factor correction (PFC) for three-phase AC-DC converter using CUK converter. The presented converter employs only single active switch for CUK converter which is driven by only one control signal, leading to decreasing the system cost. A proposed PFC control method for AC-DC CUK converter is introduced. The proposed control strategy characterized by simple design, for achieving nearly sinusoidal input current, high input power factor (PF), small DC capacitor and step-up/down regulated output voltage. The low value of capacitor can be used that makes the circuit practical for medium power applications. The performance of the proposed system is evaluated under different operating conditions. The PFC CUK converter is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment and confirmed experimentally using DSP-DS1104. The proposed controller algorithm is verified by the simulation and experimental results.
