Abstract
The design of a high power and high brightness diode laser system based on passively cooled fiber coupled bars is described and results in welding applications are compared to results from lamp pumped solid state lasers. Further advancements of high power disk lasers are presented fueled by an improved architecture of the diode pump modules.
