Abstract

Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is increasingly used in the field of aerospace due to its high efficiency and high power density. High electromagnetic load and lightweight structure have been adopted in the motor design to improve the power density, however, the iron core material is a restriction to take high magnetic load and lightweight structure is only used in rotor design. Four topologies are used to investigate that the lightweight structure applied in stator and the highperformance soft magnetic alloy core adoption can improve the power density of PMSM in the paper. The design method of the lightweight structure is proposed to decrease the total mass. The electromagnetic performances of the four motors are compared to verify that the proposed method can effectively improve the power density of PMSM.
