Abstract
Multiple beam amplifiers are based on multi-beam klystron (MBK) approach. Even though the MBK development was driven by the desire of producing higher power at as low an operating voltage as possible, the multiple beam traveling wave amplifiers technology can enhance the bandwidth1. In coupled cavity traveling wave tubes (TWTs), several tens of klystronlike cavities are used, as a slow wave structure, which are coupled for RF signal propagation2. The coupled cavities approach results in a wider bandwidth than in the high-Q cavities of the klystron. In fact, that is still a fraction of the bandwidth of the helix-TWT which is a relatively low power amplifier.
