Abstract

Measurements of permeabilities at low inductions were performed on high permeability grain oriented electrical steels (HGO). It has been found that the permeability of HGO at the induction of 0.01 T can be approximately 50% higher than the permeability of conventional grain oriented electrical steels (GO), but manufacturers pay little attention to this characteristic and consequently, a considerable difference in permeabilities exists among HGO of different manufacturers, even among different batches of the same manufacturer. This makes the application of HGO difficult in manufacturing of instruments current transformers of higher accuracy classes.
