Abstract

This paper presents a hybrid method for video de-interlacing. The basic idea is to segment the field dynamically into background area or foreground area. The proposed method interpolates pixels using temporal information in the background area, and then interpolates remaining pixels using spatial and temporal algorithms in the foreground area. Extensive simulations conducted for video sequences show the performance of the proposed method over the previous line averaging methods and the schemes based on the ELA in terms of the objective and subjective image qualities.
