Abstract

Recent research progress of organic electro-optic (OEO) materials with record-high Pockels coefficients, processing reliability and operational stability will be presented. These accomplishments are achieved through rational molecular design, concise synthesis, innovative poling and in-device processing of OEO materials. The attractive features of these high performance OEO materials and their hybrid photonic systems are extremely important to meet energy reduction and bandwidth enhancement challenges in exponentially growing data transfer of modern societies, and can revolutionize photonic technologies with large-scale integration for ultrafast information processing and electromagnetic wave sensing.
