Abstract

Laminated magnetic thin film disks with [101~0] crystallographic preferred orientation (PO) were made on glass substrates. The structure, magnetic and recording characteristics of these films were compared to those of conventional laminated films with a [112~0] PO. It was found that the [101~0] PO laminated films possess better structural integrity and result in much less reduction of Hc and S*, and an improved recording performance.
