Abstract

Multimachine power system consists of a large number of power generation units to produce electrical power. The damping torque of the generators control the stability of the system. Transmission lines fault, unknown loads and disturbances hamper the damping torque of the generator. The oscillation of the performance of the power system arises due to the lack of damping torque of the generators. The oscillation of the speed, rotor angle and terminal voltage may increase or decrease and reduce the stability of the power system. This paper presents a robust integral linear quadratic gaussian controller (ILQG) to damp out the oscillation of the power system. The ILQG controller has high gain and phase margin and bandwidth. It improves the dynamic stability of the power system. The performance of power system under ILQG controller is investigated using MATLAB. The simulation results show the robustness of the proposed controller.
