Abstract
This study aims to optimize lightweight, high-performance sandwich structures featuring a double arrowhead auxetic core to enhance Poisson’s ratio, mass, natural frequency, and failure load. Utilizing response surface methodology and finite element analysis, experimentally validated, the structures incorporate carbon-aramid composite face sheets and PLA cores produced via additive manufacturing. Five surrogate models inform metaheuristic optimization using the Lichtenberg algorithm, targeting compression and modal performance. The results indicate a 21% increase in failure load, a 55% increase in natural frequency, and a 57% decrease in Poisson’s ratio. The integration of Industry 4.0 technologies significantly enhances these properties.
