Abstract
A new approximate electrostatic dispersion relation for ion Bernstein waves with frequencies much higher than the ion gyrofrequency is considered. It is applicable for an arbitrary ion distribution function and includes resonance-broadening effects of a non-uniform magnetic field. A number of special cases are analysed.
