Abstract

This paper studies the characteristics of horizontal resonances excited by the beam-beam interaction. First-order perturbation theory and simulations show that high-order horizontal resonances are exceptionally strong at large amplitudes. The orders of these resonances are so high that they may mistakenly be ignored, and they can result in a short lifetime.
