Abstract

The efficiency of the magnetic length l=(ℏ/ eB) 1/2 as a measure for probing nanostructured potentials is demonstrated by data of the magneto-luminescence on InAs-quantum dots in pulsed magnetic fields up to 40 T. Depending on the orientation of the pyramid-shaped quantum dots with respect to the field orientation only for the configuration and field intensities permitting the lowest cyclotron orbit to fit into the quantum dot an additional excited state is observed.
