Learn more.Copy URL Abstract Linear relations over appreciable ranges of temperature near the inversion are found among the critically evaluated data for the shear compliances s44 and s66, for s44 or s66 and s144, and for the piezoelectric strain coefficients d114 and d14. It is suggested that d11 and s14 vary as (Tλ - T)0.115 on heating to the transition temperature Tλ. These relations are also applied for neutron-bombarded samples and are discussed with respect to some current microscopic knowledge for quartz.
